Located in southern Central America, on the Isthmus of Panama, the country is a neighbour of Costa Rica and Colombia. If the Panama Canal made it famous, you can be sure there’s more to that, like the charm of its tropical and idyllic landscapes.
Fishing is an important activity here. After all, the literal meaning of the country’s name is “abundance of fish”. The waters around Panama are home to incredible marine diversity. This is apparent on Coiba island, one of the largest islands of the Park with the same name. There, you can see more than 800 species. Panama is surrounded by islands worth visiting, such as San Blas, the Pearl Islands or Taboga Island.
Panama’s beaches are among the most beautiful in the world, in particular Playa Las Lajas, which is perfect for swimming, surfing or simply relaxing. Go for it, the beach has not been swamped yet with major restaurant chains or tourists! A treasure that will soon be discovered... Santa Catalina is the favourite beach of surfers.
Panama City, the capital, is diverse from a cultural perspective, rough, but also sophisticated... Go for a walk in the Casco historic district and you’ll notice that salsa is the only thing that matters… !
